Compact Fluorescent Light News Flash!!

CFL's are Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs that use less energy. They save $30 or more per bulb a year. You may have heard in the news that some CFL's pose a fire hazard. This is why it's important to buy them from a reliable source.

CFL's purchased from The Home Depot Supply, our Co-op Cost Cutters supplier, are safe. These products are tested and approved by CSA - the Canadian standard for safety in electrical products.

They are also approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). This is one of the world's leading organizations in product safety testing and certification.

Often, you get what you pay for. We recommend that you only recognized brands with CSA or UL approval - even if they cost a bit more. You cannot put a price on safety.

For co-ops that pay bulk hydro (the electricity in units, as well as common areas), this is an excellent investment. When replacing 4 bulbs in a unit, it can save $112-$184 a year per unit. Co-ops can save thousands of dollars a year this way. There are also energy efficient lights for outdoor and common areas.

What people say

Our maintenance staff have been very pleased with the quality of the paint from ICI and, again, delivery is very fast. Also, ICI has been very helpful when we have needed advise on what type of product to use for special circumstances.
